Step one is not washing. It is covering things up. This Hendra home had a built-in BBQ, outdoor kitchen joinery and a wall-mounted TV sitting right where I needed to work, so the lot got wrapped in plastic and taped off along the weatherboards before I mixed a drop.
Most houses do not need that much. Usually it is power points and light fittings covered, the doorbell taped, pot plants and furniture moved off the path, and the garden beds given a good soak so nothing sits in the run-off. Outdoor kitchens, TVs, speakers and anything else that does not like water get properly sheeted.
It adds time to the front of every job, and it is time worth spending. A wash is only a good result if nothing of yours got wet that should not have.
