Stop! Don't blast your sandstone.
Sandstone is a soft, porous sedimentary stone. If you attack it with a standard high-pressure nozzle, you will strip the surface ("etching"), leaving permanent wand marks and opening the pores to even more dirt.
At HiPressure, we use a Chemical Soft Wash process. We apply a specialized biocide that soaks into the stone and kills the black algae and mould at the root. We then gently rinse it away using volume, not force.
Our Safe Method:
- ✓ Chemical Pre-Treat
- ✓ Low Pressure Rinse
- ✓ Kill Black Spot
- ✓ Long Lasting Result
The Restoration Process
Identify
We assess the stone type (Himalayan, York, etc.) and check for drainage issues or fragile pointing.
Treat
We apply a chemical soft wash mix. This dwells on the surface, breaking down black spot lichen.
Cleanse
Using wide fan tips and low pressure, we gently rinse away the dead biological matter.
Neutralise
A final fresh water flush ensures your plants are safe and the stone is pH neutral.

Sandstone FAQs
Will pressure cleaning damage my sandstone? +
Yes, high pressure can ruin sandstone. That is why we do not use high pressure. We use a soft wash chemical process that kills the mould, allowing us to rinse it off gently without etching the stone.
Can you remove black spots (Lichen)? +
Yes. The black spots are actually alive (lichen). Our chemical treatment penetrates the root system to kill them. However, if they have been there for years, they may leave a faint "ghost" mark that fades over time.
Is it safe for my plants? +
We take plant safety seriously. We saturate the soil with fresh water before and after the chemical application to dilute any runoff, ensuring your garden stays healthy.
