Heritage House Wash Hendra, Brisbane

Soft washing that protects timber and trims, with masking and controlled rinse to keep the interior dry.

This home is part of Hendra history. Locals know it as Como, the former Hendra Pineapple Plantation homestead. The owners had one key request, keep water out. I planned the prep first, then cleaned. No shortcuts, no guesswork.

Below is the process I use on heritage Queenslanders in Brisbane. It protects timber cladding and decorative trims, and it keeps interiors dry while still delivering a bright, even result.

Preparation first

  • Walkthrough to spot gaps, vents, and any exposed wiring
  • Drop plastic and blue tape across awnings, vents, and tricky joins
  • Cover or avoid sensitive fixtures such as lights and cameras
  • Plan rinse paths so water moves away from doorways and cavities

Gentle clean, controlled rinse

  • Soft wash on cladding and trims, suitable chemistry at low pressure
  • Brush or cloth for detail on fretwork and railings where needed
  • Timed dwell, then low pressure rinse with direction control
  • Final check for residue at edges, then remove masking

Result

The verandah and trims came up clean, the timber stayed safe, and the interior stayed dry. The owners were relieved because previous cleans had pushed water inside. Careful prep and a gentle method fixed that problem.

FAQs

Do you use high pressure on Queenslander style homes
No. I use a soft washing method on cladding and trims. Pressure is reserved for suitable hard surfaces only, and I control spray direction to keep water away from gaps.
How do you prevent water entering through old seals and vents
I start with a full walkthrough to find weak points, then mask and tape where needed. I use drop plastic, control the angle of application and rinse away from openings, and avoid sensitive fixtures.
Can you work around exposed lights or wiring
Yes, with care. If I find exposed fittings I protect them first or adjust the method. Safety and dryness come before cleaning speed.
